Sliding Door Repair — Frequently Asked Questions
Honest answers about cost, timing, repair vs. replace, warranty, and more. Can't find what you need? Just call us.
1How much does sliding door repair cost in Tampa Bay?
Most sliding door repairs fall between $95 and $375. Roller replacement — the most common service — typically runs $150–$250 for a standard two-panel patio door. A full hardware rebuild (rollers, track, lock, and weatherstrip) usually runs $250–$400. We always provide a free, no-obligation estimate before any work begins, so there are never any surprises.
2Is it better to repair my sliding door or replace it entirely?
Repair is almost always the better value. A new sliding door typically costs $1,500–$3,500 installed — roughly 6–10× the cost of a professional repair. Most sliding door problems — worn rollers, a dirty track, a broken lock, or a bent frame — are fixable in under two hours without touching the glass or the surrounding frame. We'll give you an honest assessment on-site, and we'll tell you when replacement makes more sense.
3How long does a typical sliding door repair take?
Most residential repairs take 45 minutes to 1.5 hours on-site. Roller replacement — our most common service — is usually done in under an hour. More involved jobs like track replacement or full hardware rebuilds can take up to two hours. We arrive with the most common parts on our truck, so we almost never have to reschedule for parts.
4Do you offer same-day service?
Yes. Same-day appointments are available Monday through Saturday throughout the Tampa Bay Area. Call us in the morning and we can often be at your door that afternoon. For urgent situations — a door that won't close and lock, or a safety concern — let us know when you call and we'll prioritize your appointment.
5Why is my sliding door so hard to open and close?
The most common cause is worn or broken rollers. Rollers are the small wheels inside the bottom of the door that roll along the track — when they wear down or break, the door drags directly on the metal track and becomes progressively harder to move. Other common causes include a dirty or debris-filled track, a bent track, a misaligned door panel, or a warped frame. In Florida's heat and humidity, rollers typically last 7–15 years depending on usage and quality.
6What types of sliding doors do you repair?
We repair all types of residential and light commercial sliding doors: patio and lanai sliding glass doors, sliding screen doors, aluminum-frame doors, vinyl-frame doors, wood-frame doors, multi-panel pocket doors, closet bypass doors, and mirrored wardrobe doors. We also repair all types of sliding windows. If it slides, we fix it.
7Can you replace the glass in a sliding door without replacing the whole door?
Yes, in most cases. Sliding door glass panels — including tempered safety glass and Low-E insulated units — can be replaced without disturbing the frame or hardware. Glass replacement is often the right call after a crack, seal failure (fogging between panes), or impact damage. We measure and order replacement glass to fit your existing frame.
8My sliding door lock is broken or won't latch — can you fix just the lock?
Yes. Lock replacement is one of our most common standalone services. We carry a wide selection of replacement locks, latches, and handle sets that fit most standard door configurations. A broken lock is also a security concern, so we prioritize these calls. Most lock replacements take 30–45 minutes.
9Do you work on sliding doors in condos, apartments, and HOA communities?
Yes. We regularly work in condos, high-rises, and HOA-managed communities throughout Tampa Bay. We carry full liability insurance, coordinate with building management and property managers, and are familiar with the access and scheduling requirements of managed properties.
10How long will my repair last? Is there a warranty?
All of our repairs come with a 90-day parts and labor guarantee. If anything we repaired fails within 90 days, we'll come back and fix it at no charge — no questions asked. Beyond the guarantee, a quality roller replacement typically lasts 10–20 years with normal use. We use commercial-grade hardware on all repairs, not the builder-grade parts found at big-box stores.
11Do I need to be home during the repair?
For exterior door repairs, someone does need to be present to provide access and approve the work before we begin. However, we try to make scheduling as convenient as possible — we offer morning and afternoon windows, and we call 30 minutes before arrival so you're not waiting around all day.
12What areas do you serve?
We serve 25+ cities throughout the Tampa Bay Area, including Tampa, St. Petersburg, Clearwater, Brandon, Wesley Chapel, Riverview, Palm Harbor, Dunedin, Tarpon Springs, Land O' Lakes, Lutz, Largo, Seminole, Safety Harbor, Oldsmar, New Port Richey, Holiday, Plant City, Valrico, Sun City Center, Apollo Beach, Ruskin, Bradenton, Lakeland, and Temple Terrace.
